Ethics in Practice: Clinical Ethics

The clinical ethics group seeks to develop exemplary models of clinical ethics practice in diverse health care settings. It represents the largest multi-disciplinary group of in-hospital bioethicists in Canada.

The job descriptions of bioethicists within the clinical ethics group usually involve responsibilities in the areas of: case consultation, teaching, organizational/clinical initiatives (including research ethics board activities) and research and community outreach.

One of the JCB’s goals is to support clinical ethics activities, including continuing education for health care providers, ethics committees, ethics consultation and projects, and to address specific issues arising in affiliated healthcare organizations.
