Christine Harrison received her BA and Master's degrees (Philosophy) from the University of Guelph, and her PhD in Philosophy (specializing in biomedical ethics) from McMaster University. Her doctoral thesis was "The concept 'person' in medical ethics". She is Associate Professor in the Department of Paediatrics, with cross appointments in Occupational Therapy, Molecular Medicine, and Graduate Studies, and a member of the University of Toronto Joint Centre for Bioethics. She is former Director of Bioethics at The Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto.
She has served as President of the Canadian Bioethics Society and Chair of the Canadian Paediatric Society Bioethics Committee. Her research interests include ethical aspects of health care decision-making for and by children, complementary and alternative health care, and end-of-life care for children.
