Dianne recently began a position as Senior Ethicist with Trillium Health Centre, Mississauga and is the Lead for the Regional Ethics Program. She has over six years of experience as a clinical ethicist having worked as the Regional Ethicist at The Credit Valley Hospital and as a Clinical Ethicist with the Centre for Clinical Ethics (a joint venture of Providence Healthcare, St. Joseph's Health Centre, and St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto).
She is cross-appointed to the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Toronto as Assistant Professor (status) and as an Associate Member of the School of Graduate Studies. She currently co-directs a course in the MHSc (Bioethics) program at the University of Toronto Joint Centre for Bioethics.
Her prior education includes a Post Graduate Clinical Ethics Fellowship with the University of Toronto Joint Centre for Bioethics, Doctoral and Master’s Degrees in Nursing from the University of Alberta, Edmonton and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from the University of Western Ontario, London.
Her research interests include the use of qualitative methods to explore end-of-life decision-making and advance care planning. In 2008, a book based on her doctoral research was published by the University of Alberta Press, with the title “Living Will, Living Well: Reflections on Preparing an Advance Directive.”
